DFT6-12(40.5) Cable Tap Box
As urban distribution networks undergo continuous renovation and expansion, a large number of overhead lines within cities have been replaced by cable lines, and pole-mounted switches have been superseded by switchgear cabinets. The DFT6-12(40.5) outdoor ring main unit is a new type of power supply equipment designed by Tian’an Electric to support 10 kV (35 kV) cable-based power grids. It is widely used at cable connection points in 10 kV (35 kV) systems for the reception and distribution of electrical energy. Each ring main line in the product is equipped with either a load switch or a vacuum circuit breaker, allowing any individual branch circuit to be independently disconnected or reconnected without affecting the other circuits in the ring network. When a combined electrical solution is employed, if a short-circuit fault occurs in a particular branch circuit, the fuse on that circuit will quickly interrupt the faulty circuit and simultaneously actuate the tripping mechanism of the load switch, causing it to open and isolate the faulted circuit. This ensures uninterrupted power supply to the non-faulty branch circuits.

Each ring-main circuit in the product is equipped with either a load switch or a vacuum circuit breaker, allowing any individual branch circuit to be independently disconnected or reconnected without affecting the other circuits in the ring network. When a combined-apparatus configuration is employed, if a short-circuit fault occurs in a particular branch circuit, the fuse on that circuit will promptly interrupt the faulted circuit and simultaneously actuate the tripping mechanism of the associated load switch, thereby isolating the faulted circuit and ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the non-faulty branch circuits.
Applicable applications: distribution networks in urban industrial parks, residential communities, commercial centers, mining areas, airports, railways, wind farms, switchgear stations, and large enterprises in industries such as steel, petrochemicals, and cement, as well as other settings. It is particularly well suited for urban road network renovation projects, significantly reducing investment in electrical equipment and cables.
1) The cable tap-off box is an outdoor-type unit featuring a fully insulated, fully sealed, and fully shielded structure, eliminating the need for clearance distances. It also exhibits excellent resistance to heavy pollution, condensation, and flooding, thereby meeting the requirements for continuous outdoor operation under all weather conditions.
2) Small footprint, easy to relocate, aesthetically pleasing, and easily integrated with the surrounding environment;
3) The cabinet body is constructed from high-quality stainless steel, with an outer lining of corrosion-resistant cedar boards, providing excellent corrosion resistance, robust durability, and a service life of 30 years.
4) The indoor switchgear shall be a compact SF6-insulated switchgear or an environmentally friendly gas-insulated switchgear, with all high-voltage live parts enclosed within a hermetically sealed enclosure.
5) The use of flood-resistant, touch-safe cable terminations ensures resistance to floodwater intrusion, thereby significantly enhancing power supply reliability.
6) Easy to integrate with distribution automation systems, enabling primary–secondary integration;
7) The structure is flexible, allowing for the development of distribution schemes ranging from simple to complex, thereby meeting various configuration requirements in secondary substations and switchgear stations.
