In June and July 2026, Ningbo Tian’an Electric’s independently developed and manufactured 4 units of 110 kV oil-immersed power transformers (20 MVA/30 MVA) Along with a complete set of accompanying components, the equipment was loaded onto ships in batches at Ningbo Port and Shanghai Port for overseas shipment. It will be transported across the ocean to Kigali, Rwanda, where it will be deployed at the NYAMATA substation’s new construction and upgrade project, providing comprehensive support for the expansion and modernization of the Rwandan capital’s core power grid and ensuring a continuous, stable power supply to urban areas.

In Rwanda, East Africa, the local climate is hot, humid, and rainy, with complex geological conditions and challenging road‑transport infrastructure. As a result, the entire high‑voltage equipment package must endure a combined journey: ocean shipping followed by an extended overland transit across the African continent. This places stringent demands on transformer insulation durability, operational stability, vibration‑and‑shock resistance, high‑temperature and moisture‑proof performance, and overall service life. Taking into account the actual operating conditions at the NYAMATA substation, Tian’an Electric’s R&D team developed a customized optimization solution, rigorously aligning with IEC international electrical standards and project‑specific technical requirements. Specialized enhancements were implemented across four key modules: the main equipment structure, high‑voltage insulation configuration, forced‑air cooling system, and moisture‑ and vibration‑proof design for ocean transport. The 110 kV main transformers delivered this time feature low energy loss, reduced operating noise, and stable long‑term load operation—core attributes that perfectly meet Rwanda’s grid requirements for year‑round, uninterrupted, continuous operation, thereby ensuring, at the hardware level, the safety, efficiency, and reliable power supply of the regional grid.

Since winning the bid for this key overseas transmission and substation project in Rwanda, the company has established a dedicated project‑execution team to oversee the entire delivery process.

1. Production Quality Inspection End : Comprehensive quality control measures were implemented throughout the entire process for high-voltage equipment. All four 110 kV transformers successfully passed a full suite of type tests, including temperature-rise testing, insulation withstand voltage testing, short-time current withstand testing, and overall mechanical strength testing, with all technical parameters achieving first‑time acceptance.

2. Logistics Shipping End : A dual-port shipment strategy is employed to optimize overall ocean freight costs for overseas customers. Based on variations in transformer dimensions and weight, shipments are staged across multiple transport modes—including 40-foot high-cube containers, open-top containers, specialized frame containers, and roll‑on/roll‑off vessels. All main transformers and accessories are packaged in standardized, marine‑grade, shock‑proof, moisture‑resistant, and rust‑proof packaging, minimizing the risks of impact, moisture ingress, and deformation during multi‑leg, long‑haul intermodal transport. This ensures that equipment arrives intact at the Rwanda project site, thereby shortening the on‑site installation, commissioning, and grid‑connection timelines.
