Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station
The Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station, also known as the Yangtze River Three Gorges Project or simply the Three Gorges Project, It is the largest in the world. Hydropower station , and it is also the largest engineering project ever undertaken in China's history. The Three Gorges Dam serves more than ten functions, including navigation, power generation, and agriculture, among others. The Three Gorges Dam In 1992, was elected to the National People's Congress of China Approval for construction, Construction officially began in 1994, and water storage for power generation started on the afternoon of June 1, 2003. The project was fully completed in 2009.
Elevation of the Three Gorges Dam Standing at 185 meters tall with a reservoir elevation of 175 meters, the dam spans 2,335 meters in length. The project required a static investment of 135.266 billion RMB and features the installation of 32 hydroelectric generator units, each with a capacity of 700,000 kilowatts. On July 4, 2012, the final hydroelectric unit at the Three Gorges Dam was officially put into operation, marking the moment when the Three Gorges Hydropower Station—boasting an installed capacity of 22.4 million kilowatts—became the world’s largest hydropower plant and a leading global producer of clean energy.
