Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant

This follows China's first nuclear power plant, which was independently designed and built. — The Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant, approved for construction in Zhejiang Province as the second nuclear power station following Qinshan, will occupy a total site area of 7.4 million square meters. It is designed to house up to six 1.25-gigawatt AP1000 nuclear power units. Once fully operational, the plant will boast an installed capacity of 7.5 million kilowatts. The first phase of the project, with a total investment of 25 billion yuan, will initially focus on building two state-of-the-art, domestically developed million-kilowatt-class pressurized water reactor units. Unit No. 1 has already begun generating electricity, while Unit No. 2 has been successfully connected to the grid and is now producing power.
