Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant
In July 2004, located in Sanmen City, Zhejiang Province The construction of the first phase of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant in Sanmen County has received approval from the State Council. This follows China's first nuclear power plant, which was independently designed and built. — The Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant, approved for construction in Zhejiang Province as the second nuclear power station following Qinshan, will occupy a total site area of 7.4 million square meters. It is designed to house up to six 1.25-gigawatt AP1000 nuclear power units. Once fully operational, the plant will boast an installed capacity of 7.5 million kilowatts. The first phase of the project, with a total investment of 25 billion yuan, will initially focus on building two state-of-the-art, domestically developed million-kilowatt-class pressurized water reactor units. Unit No. 1 has already begun generating electricity, while Unit No. 2 has been successfully connected to the grid and is now producing power.
