Shanghai Metro
The Shanghai Metro is the urban rail transit system serving Shanghai and the broader Shanghai metropolitan area in China. It boasts one of the longest total track lengths of any city-based metro system worldwide and is a member of the CoMET (Community of Metros). The first line of the Shanghai Metro, Line 1, officially began operations on May 28, 1993, making Shanghai the third city in mainland China to launch a fully operational subway system.
