The Ningbo-Fenghua Line is a key project in Zhejiang's metropolitan area intercity railway plan, and it also marks Ningbo’s first intercity railway to be built and operational. Starting from Gaotangqiao Station on Line 3, the line runs southward, terminating at Jinhai Road Station in Fenghua District. The railway connects Yinzhou’s Jiangshan Town, the Yinzhou Industrial Park, the Fangqiao area in Fenghua, and the city’s central district, thereby facilitating the faster integration of the southern Yinzhou and Fenghua regions into Ningbo’s broader metropolitan area.
